I'm with Erin on Ryan Rynolds, I'm glad they didn't use an unknown cause like.... Where's Superman? Has anyone seen Brandon Roth since Lex Luthor kicked his ass on a big chunk of rock?

I don't know I thought Brandon Roth did decent for the Superman. Honestly I think anyone in that role of fighting a rock is going to look like a dope. *L*

lol whoa now, cena is a great actor, i loved 12 minutes and i loved the marine, both were great movies, i loved each one, i dont like him as a wrestler though, but if i had to choose an actor for this movie....i would say use CALLUM BLUE as the red skull, he has done a great job as ZOD on smallville

I think you mean 12 Rounds.
As far as Cena the actor goes even I know he is not "great" he is a decent action guy but until he can get a few more movies under his name and not just all the same plot I won't consider him a great actor. 12 Rounds was far better then The Marine in action quality though...I did like both movies for the action.

i agree, it doesnt need remade but it is greenlit and nearly finished none the less.....but no i think the reason was cuz he was owrking on something else and the fact also that they realy wanted to take the movie in a different direction so its not llike the original "army guys in jungle being hunted" movie

It's funny how Blackest night Was the most Awesome thing since sliced bread up til issue 7.

Anyway my issue with Ryan.   No he's not the right Temperament, he is a Comedian, Hal Jordan is Not... Perhaps he has the temperament for Guy Gardner... but not for Hal.   While I agree that casting an Unknown is a bad thing, so use the Guy who Played Sheppard in Atlantis (Joe Flannigan) , he Looks the Part and has the Smart ass Temperament your looking for as well.

As for Steve looking too "pretty" and Being a Soldier.   Sorry .... He "Became" a soldier... Captain America Was a Publicity Stunt.   HE was a Puny man who could not become a soldier, who was turned by the SSS into the Perfect Human Specimen.   SO of course he should be Damn Movie Star good looking.

Blackest Night sucked long before Issue 7... it sucked since issue 2, issue 6 made it insteresting but only for a moment...

A publicity stunt? I'm sorry and I don't mean this to be rude... but have you ever read Captain America?

Calling his origin a publicity stunt is way off on Cap's origin. It wasn't a publicity stunt, the idea was there would be more of them before Dr. Josef Reinstein (real name Abraham Erskine or Dr. Wilfred Nagel, depending on what retcon you buy) was murdered by a Nazi spy and took the formula with him to the grave. Cap was  a secret experiment, even when he was revealed to the troops it was never explained where he came from. Hell, the project was originally tested on African Americans before on white Americans; I don't call that a publicity stunt at all. Isaiah Bradley, is the first Captain America; not an imaginary story, not an alternate Earth; as a matter of fact Ed Brubaker's Captain America actually has a call back to the mini-series called 'Truth'. These experiments were a secret since Reinstein defected from the Nazi Germany and he was fearful that his partner Dr. Koch was going to aid the Nazis in creating their own Super Soldier. AND no, the Red Skull was not a result of this! Johann Schmidt, the first Skull was not a Super Solider nor was Albert Malik; not until 1988 after Johann Schmidt died after being reduced to his true age after the gas that preserved him wore off was resseructed by Arnim Zola with the DNA of Captain America did he become a super solider like Cap. (I just added that there cause EVERYONE likes to assume the Red Skull was indeed a Super Soldier.) The Nazis were never able to achieve this cause Dr. Koch couldn't replicate the formula missing vital pieces of it.

No one was ever suppose to know that puny Steve Rogers was Captain America, he had a secret identity in World War II! Bucky Barnes became Bucky cause he was a World War II photographer who stumbled into Rogers' tent as he was changing! He mainatined a secret indeity through the war and even after his modern day revival in Avengers #4. The secret identity was dropped back in the early 80's.

Even if you want to say it was stunt... remember your mentality, 1940's America back when smoking was considered the cool, in-look. Anything from that era's publicity from USO to Norma Rockwell does not picture the pinnacle of American perfection to be... a pretty boy. No, they're blonde, tall, buil like a brick shit house and rugged. Not pretty and not handsome, they're rough and tough! Like the old 12 inch G.I. Joe dolls, they were rugged and had furry beards. So movie star good looking he should not be.

You want an example of a Publicity Stunt, read Ultimates Vol. 1.... THAT'S a publicity stunt!

Wow.  Okay apparently you miss the boat on what's sarcasm, Ex.  Ryan Reynolds in Origins wasn't funny "ha-ha".  He wasn't a comedian.  Neither is Deadpool..  so why would Ryan play him as such?  Ryan Reynolds is highly capable of being sarcastic,  as proven in that very film.  I don't see how in hell he'd take Hal Jordan and turn him into a comedian?  Personally I don't watch Stargate: Atlantis, so I can't comment on this person you mention.  I can only stand by the choice to make Ryan Reynolds Hal Jordan based on what I've seen.

Now..  I'm going to move on to the points Christian bring up.  I agree 100% with him on this.  Captain America is NOT and never has been a publicity stunt.  This would mean the US Government concocted this whole plot in order to what?  Show off?  No.  The experimental "Super Soldier" program was in the works behind the scenes because the US wanted to succeed and bring a true balance to the war and push it to their side!  They wanted something to stand for their might..  their brilliance..  and their ingenuity.  Sorry, but nowhere does that reflect publicity stunt.

The choice for Steve Rogers to undergo the procedure...  sure.  Maybe he's not your choice.  He wasn't anyone's choice!  THAT is why he was chosen.  Rogers was a lackluster soldier in ability who LOVED his country.  He had a great deal of heart and wanted to do anything he could to make himself a more viable soldier.  So he agreed to undergo the procedure.  And thus was born Captain America.  Again Christian is correct in the military not wanting ANYONE to know who Cap was.  No one knew that it was Steve Rogers..   not  until Bucky stumbled in and found out his secret.  A secret he loyally kept for the duration of the war and after.  Again...  NO publicity stunt.  If it were,  wouldn't Bucky run to the press?   Being a photographer?  But again it wasn't about it being a publicity stunt.  It was about turning the tide of the war and giving the American soldiers a rallying point.  Someone to believe in.  A visible source of inspiration.  That is... and shall always be...  what Captain America is.

I must have read the Blackest night thread where you two were praising it all wrong then... Carry on.

Back on Topic....

Ok while I agree that he had a Secret ID, he Was a Publicity Stunt / morale booster, if not then why dress him up in the American Flag and Parade him in front of the Troops and the enemy?  Publicity/Morale.   That's what I meant by that.   If the government had wanted him to be a "secret weapon" they would have had him do espionage missions dressed in a black outfit, All James Bond and stuff.

Now Erin as to Joe

That picture right there just Screams Jordan to me.  I'm sorry Ryan has proven his salt in acting, Really he has I enjoy everything I've seen him do (Except Wolverine 4) .  I just don't see him as Hal Jordan, I really don't... maybe I'm just worried that he will take a character that's not supposed to be funny, and make him funny ( anyone see Blade Trinity?? since When is Hannibal "Funny")

Since Gene Colan's Tomb of Dracula, Doctor Strange's later issues in the 80's with the Darkhold and the destruction of all full vampires on Earth.... In the Pages of Darkhold from the early 90's... in the second Journey into Mystery series from the late 90's... in the Blade mini-series and the monthly series that started after the first Blade movie. Hannibal King has always been the John Constantine-lite of the Marvel Universe

Did you see Blade II?  That movie sucked, too..  should have stopped at the first one.  Frankly you can't blame the actor for a shitty script.  I doubt he adlibbed shit..   so what he said was what was written.  Again, it's all up to personal preference and frankly we don't see eye to eye and that's fine.  Cest' la vie.

A morale booster isn't the same thing as a publicity stunt!  Jesus....   and why's he wearing a Red White and Blue uniform?  Oh I dunno...  maybe to establish the fact he's AMERICAN and that he's there to... wow.... and I'm thinking out of the box on this one so don't get lost on me...  he's there to EMBODY THE AMERICAN SPIRIT by dressing in their primary colors!  -gasp-  Again...  NOT a publicity stunt.  He's not up there cracking jokes or selling war bonds.  He's KILLING PEOPLE!  GERMANS.  THE BAD GUYS.

Actually according to the DVD Special features he ad libbed alot of it.  and thats where I'm gonna have issues,  Yes Hal is a Buck the System kinda guy, but I've never thought of him as Funny.

I don't buy he adlibbed some of it.... I know it's on the DVD, I'm calling him an exagerater... same way that actors in Doctor Who claim some 60's episodes were transmitted live while the BBC says "No they weren't", there's no real major change from the shooting script and any of his lines. He may have pulled a Harrison Ford in Star Wars and reworded things but that's not ablibbing...
