As the name might suggest, entrance here will lead you into the depths of dark passages. As you begin the descent, the cobblestone floors give way to an earthy path. Your senses will be awakened. A cool draft drifts through the cold stone halls, delivering chills of mystery, raising goose flesh on your arms. The hair on the back of your neck rises, giving warning. The howls of the wind whipping through might be mistaken for the screams and cries for help from those held captive in dark cells. The heady, musky scent of earthen floors fill your nostrils. Shadows dance before you as the torch lights flicker. The rough stone walls narrow, consuming you. Your curiosity guides you, preventing you from turning back and running towards the entrance. Slow is your process as eyes scan high and low. You make your way through the maze, unable to discern. Becoming lost, you reach deep inside your soul for the strength and courage to continue. You step through one more archway and before you opens a cavern. The walls are lined with hooks and chains. Heaps of rags that once were the clothes of other brave souls are residing in the corners. Your gaze continues to survey your surroundings, your vision fills with frightening images of devices of torture---the rack, the pillory, a metal cage. You know that each has a dark macabre history. Closing your eyes, your thoughts race back in time to the perils of those once imprisoned here. Pausing, you ask yourself if you dare continue?
