Being a human or human with powers aka witch or warlock means that in the scheme of BDSM you are of the submissive nature. There are only three ways to enter in to Vespertilionis: 1.) you were born/bred within Vespertilionis. 2.) you were kidnapped from Earth by a Vampire and 3.) you were already owned by a Vampire and when they came in to Vespertilionis you were brought with them. The only exception is that a witch or warlock could have “accidently” happened upon Vespertilionis..
Being a submissive does not always mean that you are a sexual whore or anything like that unless you wish it to mean that, BDSM is not all about sex.
Shifters are not always submissive. They are free within Vespertilionis but they still have to answer to the Vampires but they do not have to be owned, humans and humans with powers are either owned by the Circus (unowned submissives) or within the main house within Vespertilionis where the Duchess and many of the Ladies and Lords without their own houses reside. Shifters can own humans and humans with powers if they are wealthy and respected enough within the hierarchy of Vespertilionis.

A vampire or shifter can kill your character, so I suggest that you keep blank copies of whichever avs you wear so that if you happen to be drained of blood or violently murdered you can simply change names and come back in to play.
